Genelec UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring w/ Mic & Headphones

Genelec delivers five professional functions in a single controller with the UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring system, centring on the 9320A monitor controller paired with factory-calibrated 8550A headphones and a reference microphone. This integrated package bridges loudspeaker and headphone monitoring for stereo and immersive workflows, offering physical control of Smart Active Monitoring (SAM), Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, and Aural ID binaural processing. The 9320A functions as a monitor controller, calibration system, USB output interface, GLM remote, and reference-grade headphone amplifier, bringing tactile switching and level management to any DAW-based setup without constant reliance on software windows.

The headphone output supports impedances from 16 to 600 ohms with total harmonic distortion plus noise below –110 dB, a dynamic range of 126 dB, and maximum RMS output of 6 volts. Maximum output power reaches 200 mW into 150-ohm loads with both channels driven simultaneously. Connectivity includes balanced analogue line inputs switchable between +12 dBu and +24 dBu maximum levels, AES/EBU digital I/O with 138 dB A-weighted dynamic range, and USB type-C for 24-bit audio up to 46 kHz bandwidth. Frequency response flatness measures ±0.1 dB from 0 to 40 kHz across analogue paths. The included reference microphone enables GLM calibration of SAM monitors and continuous A-, C-, and Z-weighted SPL monitoring displayed on the backlit panel, with configurable noise dose alarms based on OSHA, NIOSH, and EU-OSHA standards.

The 8550A headphones arrive with individual factory calibration data for precise matching to the 9320A output, creating an actively compensated monitoring chain comparable to SAM loudspeaker systems. Aural ID software provides binaural virtual monitoring with personalised HRTF profiles for spatially accurate translation from loudspeakers to headphones across immersive formats. The system operates in standalone mode without a computer for basic dual-stereo monitoring, or integrates with GLM for advanced calibration, layout switching, and subwoofer management. Input-to-output latency measures 2 to 3.2 ms. The package includes a 3-metre straight braided cable, 5-metre coiled cable, alternative textile ear cushions and headband, textile carry cases for both controller and headphones, and USB type-C to type-C cable with type-A adapter.
