Product Information

Roland's Boutique series marks the 45th anniversary of the legendary JUPITER-8 polysynth with this enhanced mini recreations that expands polyphony to 32 voices and adds a suite of modern performance tools. The JUPITER-08 combines the architecture and character of the 1981 analog classic with refined pitch behaviour, motion recording, and a two-part polyphonic sequencer, all wrapped in a portable battery-powered design. Included in the package is the K-25m keyboard dock, transforming the module into a standalone instrument with built-in speaker and go-anywhere capability.

The sound engine delivers vintage-inspired tone with refined voice allocation and pitch fluctuation modelling, while the onboard MFX section provides 17 effect types including Roland's stereo chorus. Dedicated delay and reverb processors offer five reverb types plus a shimmer mode that applies octave-shifted colour to the selected algorithm. Connectivity spans USB-C for audio and MIDI interfacing with computers, traditional five-pin MIDI I/O for hardware integration, and an external clock input for syncing with modular and analog gear. Power comes from four AA batteries or USB-C, and the arpeggiator and Hold function enable hands-free pattern generation and sound exploration during performance.

The 64-step sequencer handles up to eight notes per step across two parts, capturing motion data for evolving basslines and chord progressions. Players can switch between retro JUPITER-8 architecture or exploit the expanded 32-voice polyphonic mode for dense layering and complex harmonic structures. The hands-on interface mirrors the colour scheme and layout principles of the original hardware, giving direct access to synthesis parameters without menu diving.
