Originally developed at the request of Fender Sales head Don Randall, the Jazz Bass® introduced a more refined, player-focused design, with a slimmer neck and offset body that echoed the Jazzmaster®. By 1966, the model had evolved into one of Fender’s most elegant and distinctive basses. The American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass faithfully recreates this era, featuring a hard rock maple neck with a comfortable “U”-shaped profile, paired with a 7.25" radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard and vintage tall frets for an authentic mid-’60s feel.

True to 1966 specifications, this Jazz Bass includes white neck binding with pearl dot inlays, a matching painted headstock, and a 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard. Dual volume controls with a master tone shape the output of the Pure Vintage ’66 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, delivering classic low-end punch and clarity. Vintage-style “lollipop” tuners and a threaded-saddle 4-saddle bridge complete the period-correct hardware. Supplied in a vintage-style black case with orange interior, this instrument stands as a faithful tribute to one of Fender’s most iconic bass designs.
