The American Vintage II 1957 Stratocaster® represents Fender's meticulous reinterpretation of the mid-century solid–body electric that fundamentally shaped modern guitar design. By 1957, the Strat had crystallised into a masterpiece of form and function; this limited–edition dealer–exclusive recreation captures that exact moment in instrument history. Built in the USA with period–accurate construction–methods, it prioritises vintage tone and ergonomic feel over contemporary convenience.
Construction centres on a solid ash body finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer paired with a single–piece maple neck sporting a distinctive 1957 "V" profile. The 3A flame maple fingerboard measures 9.5" radius across 21 medium–jumbo frets, while a bone nut (1.650" width) and vintage–style butt–adjust truss rod maintain period authenticity. Electronics comprise Custom Shop Fat '50s single–coil pickups in the bridge and middle positions with a Fat '60s neck pickup; five–position blade switching routes these through dual tone controls. Hardware includes Pure Vintage Synchronized Tremolo with cold–rolled steel block, nickel/chrome plating throughout, and vintage Deluxe tuning machines.
This dealer–exclusive ships with a vintage–style tweed hard case (crushed red interior) and arrives strung with Fender USA 250R nickel–plated steel (.010–.046 gauges). The 25.5" scale length, aged white pickup covers and control knobs, and meticulous hardware finishing establish an instrument that rewards players seeking documented vintage specifications without modern compromises.
