Product Information
The American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster® captures the lineage of Fender's most enduring solid–body design. Born from a trademark dispute that forced Fender to rename the Broadcaster®, the 1951 Telecaster emerged as an instrument that democratised electric guitar playing and established sonic foundations still relevant today. This maple fingerboard variant combines period–accurate construction with Custom Shop Texas Special™ single–coil pickups voiced to 1951 specifications, making it both historically grounded and sonically refined.
Construction centres on an ash body finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, paired with a 3A flame maple neck in satin nitrocellulose. The fingerboard itself is 3A flame maple with a 9.5" radius and 21 medium jumbo frets across a 25.5" scale. Hardware is period–correct: Pure Vintage 3–saddle bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage–style butt–adjust truss rod, bone nut (1.650" width), and Pure Vintage single–line tuning machines. Controls are stripped to essentials—master volume and master tone—with a 3–position blade switch selecting bridge pickup, combined neck–and–bridge, or neck alone.
The 1951 design's simplicity has proven its staying power across genres: from country and blues to punk and alternative rock. Players gravitating toward straightforward signal paths and articulate single–coil character find the Telecaster's architectural clarity rewarding, particularly when paired with subtle gain staging rather than heavy saturation. The included vintage–style tweed case with crushed red interior provides adequate protection for gigging or storage.
