Fender's 70th Anniversary '54 Stratocaster Pickup Set recreates the original 1954 single-coil voice that defined electric guitar tone. These hand-wound pickups feature alnico 3 magnets and a 5.8k DC resistance across all three positions, delivering the woody warmth and bell-like clarity that made the Stratocaster a studio and stage standard. Vintage-correct shaped covers with softened top-corner radius and cloth-covered lead wire honour the original specifications from seven decades ago.
Each pickup measures 2.6 Henries inductance and uses Formvar-coated magnet wire wound around fibre bobbins. Staggered hand-beveled pole pieces balance string output naturally, while the low-output design preserves touch sensitivity and harmonic detail. The cloth-covered internal wiring resists electromagnetic interference while maintaining period authenticity. This SSS configuration ships in white covers with right-hand orientation, ready to drop into any standard Strat routing without modification.
The alnico 3 magnet composition produces a different tonal character than later alnico 5 versions–less aggressive midrange push, more open top-end sparkle. When driven hard, these pickups respond with the characteristic bark and compression that defined early rock and blues recordings. The combination of lower output and vintage voicing allows amplifier preamps to colour the signal naturally, rather than overwhelming input stages with excessive level.
