Product Information
A shifted acoustical axis lets the capsule sit off to the side of the mouth while still pointing its maximum sensitivity at it. That asymmetrical design is the core of the DPA 6388 CORE+ Directional Headset Microphone, a supercardioid condenser with an angled boom that keeps the capsule out of the talent's sightline. This beige version, with Microlock connector, suits theatre, broadcast, corporate and house of worship work where the mic needs to disappear.
CORE+ capsule technology gives the 6388 clean, transparent reproduction with extremely low distortion across the full dynamic range, at both low and high SPLs. As a pressure-gradient design tuned for close-distance voice pickup, it rejects audience noise, reflections and crosstalk, and the off-axis response is highly linear, so what gets attenuated is not noticeably coloured. The result is strong gain-before-feedback and repeatable speech intelligibility, even when capsule placement is far from perfect.
Visual impact gets the same attention as acoustics. The low-profile capsule housing is the smallest DPA could make while keeping its directional performance, and the non-reflective PVD boom finish avoids stage-light glare. The boom switches from left to right to suit any performer, and transparent clips keep the overall appearance clean against the skin.
