Product Information

The Zildjian FX 17" El Sonido Multi Crash Ride is a specialty cymbal developed with percussionist Marc Quiñones of the Allman Brothers Band, designed to bridge traditional crash and ride functions in Latin, Salsa, Jazz, and Rock contexts. Its 17" diameter offers a middle ground between aggressive crash articulation and the definition required for ride patterns. The cymbal's hybrid voice addresses the demands of players who move fluidly between timbale setups, drum kits, and auxiliary percussion stations, delivering both pronounced stick definition and responsive wash when needed.

This multi–use cymbal balances bright attack with controlled sustain, making it effective as both a primary ride voice in smaller setups and a secondary crash in larger configurations. The FX series construction delivers clear bell definition for accents while the bow section responds to varying stick angles and playing dynamics. Reviewers consistently highlight its tonal range across drumset, timbale, and standalone percussion applications, with one noting its essential status across multiple kit configurations. The cymbal's sonic profile sits between dry and complex, offering enough overtone content for musical sustain without overwhelming adjacent instruments in ensemble settings.
