Product Information
Vic Firth's RUTE-X Poly Synthetic bridges the gap between traditional drumstick articulation and rod–like volume control. This hybrid design pairs 10 durable synthetic poly dowels with a hickory drumstick handle, giving players the tonal flexibility to move between warm, mellow voices and punchy, defined attacks. The adjustable band mechanism lets you dial in precisely where the dowels cluster, fundamentally changing how the stick responds to cymbals and drums without requiring a complete tool change.
Construction centres on high–grade hickory for the handle, finished in walnut stain, with synthetic poly dowels that resist wear through extended studio and practice sessions. The moveable band tension adjustment is the critical variable here–tighter clustering delivers brighter articulation and cleaner rimshots, whilst looser configurations produce the softer, more diffused wash typical of traditional brush work. Cross–stick technique becomes genuinely viable on drums, a task that defeats standard rod designs. The poly synthetic material exhibits superior durability compared to nylon or cane alternatives, making it ideal for players prioritising longevity over aesthetic vintage appeal.
