Vic Firth's Balter Ensemble mallets are built for percussionists working across orchestral, wind ensemble, and concert settings. The B15B pairs a soft yarn–wound aqua head with a 20” birch handle, delivering warm, resonant tones with genuine projection. These mallets target the lower two–thirds of the marimba where their lush fundamental response cuts through ensemble textures without harshness.
The soft yarn wrapping produces a full–bodied sound that sits well in mixed instrumental contexts. Birch handles offer bright articulation and responsive feel compared to rattan alternatives. At 20 inches long, they provide balanced reach and control across four–octave keyboard ranges. The aqua head colour signals the softness rating, making quick identification straightforward during rehearsal or performance changeovers.
