Product Information
Vic Firth's Balter Ensemble mallets deliver articulate, punchy tone across xylophone and the upper registers of marimba. Built for orchestras, percussion ensembles, and wind bands demanding clear projection without sacrificing control, these mallets strike the balance between brightness and definition that cuts through ensemble mix. The medium–hard yarn–wound head in green sits atop a 20–inch birch handle, engineered for players who need both precision and presence.
The yarn wrapping absorbs impact cleanly whilst the harder density keeps attack crisp and focused. Birch construction provides lightweight response ideal for rapid passage work and articulate passages where every note lands distinctly. Head diameter and yarn tension work together to colour the tone warmly whilst maintaining the articulation that makes xylophone sparkle and high marimba sing without muddiness. These sit in Vic Firth's Ensemble Series, alongside models tuned for different acoustic demands across the mallet percussion family.
