Two notes Audio Engineering's Captor X + adds a Virtual Load Shaper and True Stereo DynIR™ engine to the reactive load box category, offering independent control over dual microphones or static impulse responses positioned across the stereo field. This 8-ohm unit functions as a reactive load box, tube amp attenuator, cabinet simulator, IR loader, and stereo expander – routing directly to PA systems, audio interfaces, or headphones without a physical speaker cabinet. The onboard 3-step attenuator lets players drive their power amp hard while managing output levels, and the headphone circuit supports silent practice at full amp saturation.

The integrated DynIR™ engine delivers 32 bundled virtual cabinets, each featuring 8 microphone models and over 10,000 mic positions per cab, captured from 160,000 individual impulse responses. Hardware controls include Voice and Space encoders for quick tonal adjustments, while the DSP section houses a semi-parametric multi-mode EQ, studio-grade Enhancer with thickness and brilliance controls, and a low-latency reverb algorithm offering 12 room modes plus a custom mode. Dual XLR outputs support dual mono routing with independent DynIR microphones, simultaneous processed and dry signal capture, or full stereo cabinet simulation. The Twin Tracker feature routes the mono amp signal to the left XLR output while generating a real-time doubled performance on the right channel. Torpedo Remote software on phone, tablet, or computer provides access to all editable parameters and 128 preset storage locations, with 6 quick-access slots available directly on the hardware.

Registration via Torpedo USB Remote unlocks three additional DynIR cabinets beyond the 32 factory selections, which span models inspired by Marshall, Fender, Mesa/Boogie, Engl, Vox, Orange, and boutique manufacturers. The Virtual Load Shaper offers preset and custom post-load impedance curves to adjust warmth, low-end tightness, or high-frequency bite in the direct feed, with results audible through XLR outputs or headphones. Included lifetime access to the GENOME software environment expands the cabinet library to over 600 additional DynIR options from partnered brands and studios.
