SKB's CV22W Rolling Cymbal Vault tackles the unglamorous but essential task of protecting a gigging or studio musician's cymbal collection during transport. Built from roto-moulded linear low-density polyethylene with a welded centre post, the unit holds up to eight cymbals with diameters reaching 22 inches. The design reflects SKB's four-decade track record in case manufacturing; durability and stackability with SKB's Roto-X drum cases take priority over novelty.
The vault measures 27.5 inches in length, 24.5 inches in width, and 6.625 inches in height, weighing 14.08 pounds empty–light enough for one-handed manoeuvring despite its structural integrity. Four padded dividers prevent cymbal-to-cymbal contact and rattle during transit. Transport features include in-line skate-style wheels, an industrial-strength pull-out handle, and a moulded ergonomic carrying grip. High-tension slide-release buckles with heavy-duty webbing secure the contents; the characteristic SKB Roto "X" pattern enables stable stacking alongside matching drum cases, a practical consideration for musicians rotating multiple setups or tour-ready configurations.
Traditionally profiled cymbals fit the vault most reliably; china cymbals and flat ride cymbals exceed the internal geometry. The roto-moulded construction resists impact and moisture better than thin polycarbonate alternatives, making it suited to both studio storage and the wear inflicted by regular gigging. At 6.39 kilograms, it won't strain vehicle loading on back-to-back sessions.
