Product Information
This signature humbucker–sized P90 pickup set recreates the exact tone Joe Bonamassa drew from his 1961 Gibson SG, a guitar that defined his early career before it was stolen. Seymour Duncan reverse–engineered the original P90 soapbars to capture the midrange punch and output that drove Bonamassa's blues–rock attack. Both neck and bridge pickups use Alnico 2 magnets and period–correct winding techniques to replicate the warmth and bite of that specific instrument.
The neck pickup measures 7.85kΩ DC resistance, delivering clarity and articulation without losing low–end body. Bridge position sits at 8.45kΩ, providing the aggressive lead response Bonamassa demands while maintaining string–to–string definition. Both pickups fit standard humbucker routes, eliminating the need for routing modifications on SG–style guitars. Enamel–coated wire and hand–wound construction mirror 1960s manufacturing methods, preserving the dynamic response and harmonic complexity of vintage P90 architecture.
