Product Information
PRS brought the Custom 24 to its first NAMM show in 1985, and this SE Series version delivers that iconic design with a figured maple top over mahogany back, 24-fret mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. The 25" scale length and patented Gen III tremolo system provide the tuning stability and playability that made the original a staple for touring professionals and weekend warriors alike. This Charcoal Blue Burst finish pairs striking aesthetics with serious hardware, including Phase III tuners with wing buttons and a hard case for transport and storage.
DMO (Dynamic, Musical, Open) pickups in the neck and bridge positions were designed by Paul Reed Smith and the engineering team to deliver clear tones across the full frequency spectrum. The 5-way blade switch unlocks a wide range of sounds from warm, vocal–character cleans to aggressive overdrive, while dedicated volume and tone controls offer real-time tonal shaping. Both pickups feature an open voicing that responds to playing dynamics without muddiness in the low end or harshness in the treble range, giving players usable sounds in all five switch positions.
The bolt-on neck construction and 24-fret layout provide access to two full octaves across all six strings, extending the range for lead work and upper-register chord voicings. The Gen III tremolo stays in tune through aggressive divebombs and subtle vibrato, while the rosewood fretboard offers a familiar playing surface with smooth string bending and consistent intonation up the neck. This SE model brings the core Custom 24 design to a more accessible price point without sacrificing the tonal foundation that has made it a studio and stage standard for nearly four decades.
