PRS Phase III Locking Tuners represent the American builder's precision approach to tuning stability and string changes. Sold as a set of six, these tuners feature an un-plated brass shaft construction that reduces wear and maintains smooth operation over time. The locking design clamps strings securely, minimising tuning drift during aggressive playing and eliminating the need for multiple winds around the post. Each set includes bushings and installation screws in nickel finish.
The brass shaft core provides substantial mass and durability compared to plated alternatives, while the locking mechanism allows single-wrap string installation. This drastically reduces string change time and improves tuning accuracy by preventing slippage at the post. Critical compatibility note: Phase III tuners require specific mounting dimensions and will not retrofit to PRS models that didn't originally ship with Phase III hardware. Modifications are necessary for installation on older PRS instruments, making these primarily a direct replacement for guitars already equipped with this tuner generation.
