This 24-fret solidbody doubles as both a humbucker-equipped electric and a convincing acoustic in a single instrument, thanks to its integrated piezo system and dual-output architecture. PRS has equipped this Custom 24 variant with a figured maple top over a mahogany back, a mahogany neck with 25" scale length and rosewood fretboard, and the company's patented Gen III tremolo with Phase III tuners. The Faded Whale Blue finish gives this flagship model a distinctive appearance, and it ships with a hard case included.
The magnetic side features PRS DMO treble and bass pickups, developed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS engineering team to deliver wide-range frequency response with vocal clarity from bass to treble. A traditional volume and tone control pair with a 5-way blade switch for the magnetic pickups, while a separate 3-way selector allows players to choose magnetic pickups, piezo system, or a blend of both. The two output jacks enable simultaneous routing to an electric amp and acoustic DI, or the blend control can combine both signals through a single output for layered tones that span clean acoustic shimmer to full humbucker drive.
The piezo bridge pickup captures genuine acoustic character that holds up under scrutiny in studio and stage environments where a mic'd acoustic would normally be required. Songwriters can switch between strummed acoustic passages and distorted electric leads without changing guitars, while session players gain access to both tonal worlds from one instrument. The 24-fret neck provides extended upper register access across all six strings, and the Gen III tremolo maintains tuning stability even with aggressive pitch manipulation.
