The PRS Custom 24 is the original guitar that launched Paul Reed Smith's company at the 1985 Winter NAMM show and remains the flagship model that defines the brand's tone and playability. This Pattern Thin Neck version features the patented Gen III tremolo system and 85/15 pickups personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to deliver remarkable clarity with extended high and low frequency response. The 5-way blade switch provides expansive tonal versatility alongside dedicated volume and tone controls.
The 2024 update introduces new Wing tuning machines with lightweight buttons that echo the 12th fret bird wingspan inlay – originally designed in 1982 for tonal purposes rather than aesthetics. These lighter buttons subtract less energy from the vibrating strings, allowing the guitar to sustain longer with enhanced harmonic content. The Pattern Thin neck profile offers exceptional comfort, while the included hard case provides comprehensive protection for this Core series instrument.
