Protection Racket's 22" × 16" bass drum case (catalogue 1622-00) employs semi-rigid Propadd P2 foam construction that maintains structural integrity whether open or closed, eliminating the risk of shell damage from case collapse during transit or setup. Unlike rigid cases, this design balances protection with practical handling – the case won't crumple under its own weight, yet it remains surprisingly portable at under 3.5 kilos, making it viable for touring, rehearsal spaces, and session work alike.
The internal dimensions measure 25½" × 19½", providing adequate clearance for the 22" × 16" shell plus hardware and bearing edge geometry. The semi-rigid foam design prevents the deformation issues common in fully soft cases while avoiding the excessive weight penalty of all-hard alternatives.
