Pearl's bass drum spurs represent a straightforward approach to floor stability, engineered to anchor the kick drum during both rehearsal and live performance. The SP302 pair uses a telescoping design that adapts to different stage conditions—a practical philosophy reflecting Pearl's heritage in building instruments that respond to real-world demands. The dual-mode spike system addresses the core problem: standard floors and carpeted venues require fundamentally different grip mechanics.
Each spur features a retractable high-grip rubber tip that covers a recessed spike underneath, allowing users to switch contact methods without tool changes. The rubber tip handles smooth surfaces and polished hardwood, whilst the exposed spike bites into carpet fibres for immovable positioning. Installation uses new wing bolts designed for quick adjustment and secure fastening. This pair suits Pearl's MMX series bass drums, though the standard mounting interface permits broader compatibility across many modern drum kits requiring reliable floor coupling.
The telescoping mechanism provides vertical travel range, allowing height compensation across uneven stages or floors without repositioning the entire drum kit.
