Product Information
Neumann's digital signal processing architecture brings mathematically optimised waveguide technology to an ultra-compact near-field monitor with exceptional power reserves. The KH 80 DSP Active Studio Monitor uses a DSP engine to filter and align audio output for reference-class performance in project studios, broadcast vans, and mobile recording environments. Its white polycarbonate composite cabinet houses a custom-modelled alloy fabric dome tweeter and long-throw composite sandwich cone bass driver, both engineered to minimise harmonic and intermodulation distortion across the frequency spectrum.
The elliptical Mathematically Modelled Dispersion waveguide controls sound direction with computer-simulated precision, delivering a free field frequency response of 53 Hz to 21 kHz (–6 dB) and ±0.7 dB linearity deviation between 100 Hz and 10 kHz. Maximum SPL reaches 108.8 dB in half space at 1 metre, driven by bi-amplified Class D power with separate thermo limiters for woofer and tweeter protection. The rear Acoustical Control switch offers four-position low-mid adjustment for quick setup on desks or free-standing positions, while network connectivity enables room correction via the optional MA 1 measurement microphone and Automatic Monitor Alignment software. Analogue input accepts XLR or 6.3 mm jack with 14k Ohms impedance and electronically balanced signal chain, whilst digital conversion runs at 24-bit/48 kHz with 2 ms latency in linear phase mode.
Flow-optimised bass reflex ports reduce compression at high output levels, with pipe resonance damping maintaining clarity during sustained low-frequency reproduction. The one-piece front panel eliminates discontinuities that cause edge diffraction, contributing to the monitor's ±0.26 dB reproduction accuracy tolerance across the critical 100 Hz to 10 kHz range. A universal switched-mode power supply operates across 100–240 V mains, whilst auto-standby mode reduces consumption when the monitor is inactive. The KH 80 DSP pairs with the KH 750 DSP subwoofer for extended low-frequency response, and every unit is pair-matched to any other KH 80 DSP for consistent stereo imaging.
