Product Information

This competitive upgrade path brings owners of rival DAWs into MOTU's flagship production environment at a reduced price, recognising licenses from Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, Live, Reason, Studio One and ten other qualifying sequencers. Digital Performer 12 now includes a full Dolby Atmos® renderer built directly into the software, supporting up to 128 channels positioned anywhere in three-dimensional space with elevation control. Monitoring scales from binaural headphone playback through to 9.1.6 speaker arrays, and finished mixes export as ADM files ready for spatial streaming platforms or cinema post-production workflows.

MOTU's proprietary AI stem separation engine extracts drums, bass, vocals, guitar, ensemble strings and ensemble brass from stereo mixes in a single pass, enabling remix work, dialogue isolation and part-muting for practice tracks. The Arrangement Strip introduces colour-coded drag-and-drop section reordering that affects every track simultaneously, with gestures for duplication, snipping and deletion across entire song segments. Single-click track freezing preserves CPU headroom while still allowing mixer adjustments on frozen channels, and track presets now store complete signal chains from input routing through EQ curves and plug-in chains. MusicXML round-tripping connects bidirectionally with Dorico, Sibelius and MuseScore for notation work, while high frame rate video support extends to 120 fps for contemporary post workflows.

Keysets import command structures directly from Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Live, reducing the learning curve for switchers accustomed to muscle-memory shortcuts. The Performer Producer Pack adds loops, MIDI chord progressions and hundreds of arpeggio patterns, while built-in tutorials and flyover help accelerate onboarding. Tags make large session templates searchable by instrument type, routing category or processing chain, addressing the navigation challenges of complex film scoring and album production templates that can exceed hundreds of tracks.
