Product Information

This five-licence academic lab pack gives institutions and qualifying students access to MOTU's flagship DAW at a substantial reduction. Digital Performer 12 is a complete production environment built around Dolby Atmos® integration, AI-powered stem separation, and deep workflow improvements across arrangement, mixing and scoring. The academic licensing model allows music schools, universities and training facilities to equip multiple workstations with full DP12 functionality, including the built-in Atmos renderer, MusicXML round-tripping with notation software, and the Performer Producer Pack of loops and MIDI content.

The Dolby Atmos renderer handles up to 128 channels positioned anywhere in the 3D sound field, with monitoring options up to 9.1.6 speaker configurations or binaural playback on standard headphones. Mix automation places and moves objects through the spatial field using DP's established automation system, and finished mixes export as ADM files ready for streaming platforms or other Atmos-equipped facilities. MOTU's AI stem separation engine extracts drums, bass, vocals, guitar, ensemble strings and ensemble brass from stereo mixes in a single pass, enabling remixing, dialogue isolation or practice sessions with individual parts muted. The Arrangement Strip allows entire song sections to be reordered by dragging coloured bars across all tracks simultaneously, with quick gestures for duplication, splitting and deletion.

Track freezing now happens with a single click while preserving full mixing capability on frozen tracks, and track presets store complete channel configurations including I/O routing, EQ settings and plug-in chains. Tags make large templates searchable, while imported key commands from Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic and Live allow users migrating from other platforms to maintain familiar shortcuts. High frame rate support extends to 120 fps for video work, and MusicXML round-tripping with Dorico, Sibelius and MuseScore maintains two-way communication with notation applications. Built-in tutorials and flyover help provide immediate guidance within the interface.
