The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gong 20" is a handcrafted bronze alloy gong shaped to release its full tonal voice. Also known as Feng or Sun Gongs, these instruments feature an almost flat profile that opens the gong's resonance across a wide frequency spectrum. Meinl manufactures each 50 cm gong in China using traditional methods and a special bronze alloy formulation.

Soft strikes emphasise the dominant low–pitched tones, while harder hits bring out wave–like overtones and harmonic complexity. The gong sustains for extended periods, making it valuable for ambient soundscapes, meditation recordings, and live performance. Each instrument arrives with a beater sized specifically for the 20" diameter, ensuring you can begin playing immediately without sourcing additional mallets.

Wind Gongs carry symbolic weight in traditional practice, representing the sun and embodying vitality, energy, and strength. The deep, resonant tone fills a space with rich harmonic content, making this gong useful for sound therapy, studio layering, world music settings, and experimental composition.
