Product Information
The Meinl Sonic Energy Wah-Wah Kalimba C Major 17-Notes Acacia is a thumb piano that brings ancient African melodic traditions into contemporary sound therapy and creative music-making. Its body-oriented soundhole lets players create expressive wah-wah effects by bouncing the instrument against the belly, manipulating tone in real time. Tuned to the C Major scale across 17 metal reeds, this kalimba spans from d to e'', delivering a bright, metallic voice through its acacia wood resonance chamber.
The glossy-finished acacia body weighs just 394 grams, making it highly portable without sacrificing tonal depth. Each of the 17 notes is precisely tuned to the C Major scale in the following sequence: d'', b', g', e', c', a, f, d, c, e, g, b, d', f', a', c'', e''. The instrument ships with a protective case, linen storage bag, microfiber cleaning cloth, and a tuning hammer for maintaining pitch accuracy over time.
Its ergonomic design supports extended playing sessions during meditation, therapeutic applications, or compositional experimentation. The metal reeds mount securely to the wooden resonator, producing sustained harmonic tones when plucked. The body-oriented soundhole design enables dynamic timbral shifts that distinguish this kalimba from traditional flat-backed models, opening creative possibilities for rhythmic and melodic expression across ambient, world music, and experimental genres.
