Product Information
The Meinl Sonic Energy Sound Hole Kalimba C Major 17-Notes (Maple) is a melodic thumb piano designed for meditation, sound therapy, and expressive playing. High-quality maple wood construction delivers warmth and resonance, while the traditional sound hole design extends sustain and deepens tonal character. Pre-tuned to C Major, this 17-note instrument arrives ready to play straight from the case. Weighing just 389 grams, it's compact enough for travel without sacrificing tonal richness.
The tuning spans d'', b', g', e', c', a, f, d, c, e, g, b, d', f', a', c'', e'' across 17 metal tines mounted on a maple resonator box with a gloss finish. Each note produces a clear, metallic tone when plucked with the thumbs. The included protective case shields the instrument during transport, while a microfibre cloth maintains the finish. A tuning hammer allows players to adjust individual tines, and a linen bag provides additional storage options.
Rooted in African musical traditions and also known as the Mbira or Sansa, the kalimba produces enchanting melodies through a harmonious tone sequence that encourages intuitive playing. The C Major scale configuration makes melodic exploration accessible across experience levels, from first-time players to seasoned musicians seeking meditative tones. The sound hole's acoustic properties enhance the warmth and sustain of each plucked note, creating extended resonance that suits both solo practice and therapeutic sound sessions.
