Product Information

The Meinl Sonic Energy Sound Hole Kalimba is a 17–note thumb piano built from high–quality maple and acacia wood, tuned to C Major and designed for musicians exploring sound meditation and melodic composition. Its traditional sound hole distinguishes it from standard designs by enhancing tonal warmth and sustain across the instrument's range. Pre–tuned and weighing just 398g, it arrives ready to play without adjustment.

Each of the 17 metal tines spans the C Major scale from d'' down to e, delivering a harmonious note sequence with no jarring intervals. The gloss–finished wood body resonates with clarity and projection, while the compact form factor makes it travel–friendly for studio sessions or outdoor recording. The package includes a protective case, linen carry bag, microfibre cloth, and tuning hammer for maintenance and retuning as needed.

Kalimbas originate from centuries of African musical tradition, played by plucking metal tines with both thumbs to produce clear, metallic tones. This instrument suits bedroom producers seeking organic melodic layers, session musicians adding texture to arrangements, and anyone exploring non–Western percussion for sound design or meditation work.
