Product Information
The Meinl Sonic Energy 30" Wind Gong is a handcrafted bronze instrument built using traditional Chinese methods and a special bronze alloy. Also known as a Feng or Sun Gong, its almost flat profile allows the voice to fully open and sustain. The 75 cm diameter produces a wide tonal spectrum dominated by low frequencies when struck softly, expanding into wave-like overtones under more powerful playing.
The special bronze alloy construction delivers long sustain and deep resonance that fills the room with captivating tonal qualities. Each gong ships with a size-specific beater and protective cover. The flat design allows unrestricted vibration across the 30-inch surface, producing both fundamental bass tones and complex harmonic content depending on strike force and placement.
Wind Gongs symbolise the sun's vitality in traditional practice, representing energy and strength through sound. The low-pitched character makes this gong especially effective for meditation, sound healing, and ambient music production. Strike placement and dynamic control yield everything from rumbling bass to shimmering high overtones, offering extensive sonic range from a single instrument.
