Meinl Sonic Energy 16" Octave Steel Tongue Drum D Kurd Engraved Floral (Black)

The Meinl Sonic Energy 16" Octave Steel Tongue Drum in D Kurd delivers an ethereal, meditative tone through dual–octave tongue design. This coated stainless steel instrument produces a mysterious, reflective sound character suited to sound therapy, meditation, and musical exploration. The D Kurd scale spans nine notes from D3 to A4, with each pitch featuring two tongues that resonate across two octaves for rich harmonic depth.

Constructed from high–quality coated stainless steel finished in black with lasered floral detailing, the drum measures 40.64 cm in diameter and weighs 3210 g. A central bass note anchors eight additional pitches, while a sound hole on the underside accepts a silicone plug to focus or brighten the tone. Three non–slip silicone feet provide stable placement on flat surfaces or your lap. Play with fingers or the included wooden mallets with rubber heads; decorative linen and nylon cord detailing adds visual appeal.

The drum ships with a zippered carry bag and mallet pair, ready for gigging or studio use. The dual–octave tongue configuration produces tones reminiscent of a handpan, making it accessible to players without prior tongue drum experience. Whether fingertip strikes or mallet strikes, the instrument responds with consistent tone production across its playable range.
