Product Information
Meinl's Classics Custom Dark 8" splash sits at the intersection of studio clarity and live articulation. Built from B12 bronze alloy and manufactured using high-tech computerised processes, this cymbal delivers a focused, dark voice without unnecessary wash. The splash category demands precision–fast response, short sustain, defined pitch–and the Classics Custom Dark achieves this through deliberate profile engineering rather than happenstance.
At 8 inches, the CC8DAS produces quick, explosive buildup with a noticeably dark undertone ideal for instant accents and articulate cues. The B12 alloy composition provides tonal warmth whilst the computerised manufacturing ensures consistent thickness and hammer work across the surface. Short sustain characteristics make this cymbal effective in contexts demanding clarity over decay, whether cut-through live kit balance or recorded drum tracking where cymbal bleed matters.
The 8" format occupies a practical middle ground for drummers seeking splash functionality without the extreme brightness of smaller sizes or the extended wash of 10" or 12" variants. This makes it suitable for genre-agnostic situations–from rock and metal applications requiring sharp attack definition to jazz and studio work where darker tonality supports the overall mix aesthetic rather than dominating it.
