Meinl Byzance Traditional 18 Medium Thin Crash Cymbal

The Meinl Byzance Traditional 18" Medium Thin Crash (B18MTC) represents the Turkish manufacturer's pursuit of hand–hammered character in a mid–sized crash suited to diverse playing contexts. Built from B20 bronze alloy–the cymbal industry's established standard–each cymbal is individually formed and shaped by hand, yielding unique sonic properties across units rather than assembly–line uniformity. This approach prioritises tradition and tonal individuality over predictability.

The 18" diameter positions this crash between smaller, quicker–decaying models and heavier rides, making it responsive across dynamic ranges. Tonally, it delivers a washy character with moderate darkness and a full frequency spectrum; the bright, articulate attack cuts through live or recorded contexts, whilst moderate sustain prevents excessive wash. B20 bronze's malleability and resonance characteristics allow the hand–hammering process to establish the complex overtone profile that distinguishes Byzance cymbals from spun–cast competitors at comparable price points.
