Product Information
The Hosa DMX5100 is a 100-foot DMX512 cable engineered to transmit lighting control data across extended distances in live production and installation environments. Built with 5-pin XLR connectors – male on one end, female on the other – this cable uses 24 AWG stranded copper conductors to maintain signal integrity over long cable runs. The 100-foot length addresses stage setups and architectural installations where lighting fixtures sit far from control desks, eliminating the need to daisy-chain multiple shorter cables.
Signal integrity relies on proper impedance matching, and this cable uses twisted-pair construction to meet the DMX512 specification. The stranded copper conductors reduce cable stiffness compared to solid-core alternatives, making coiling and routing easier during load-in. Shielding protects the data lines from radio frequency interference common in environments with wireless microphones and LED dimming systems. The 5-pin XLR configuration supports future expansion beyond standard 3-pin DMX, though most controllers use only three of the five pins for standard DMX512 transmission.
