Hohner has rebuilt the classic Marine Band harp with modern manufacturing tolerances and player–focused improvements that address the original's handling limitations. The Marine Band Deluxe retains the pearwood comb and traditional reed configuration that shaped blues harmonica tone for over a century, but adds structural reinforcement and comfort refinements that bring the design into current playing contexts. Torx screws replace the old nail–and–slot assembly, making plate maintenance straightforward without sacrificing airtightness. This is a diatonic harmonica in Bb tuning that bridges heritage construction with reliability updates working players actually need.

The pearwood comb receives multiple layers of clear lacquer plus an UltraGlide coating on the mouthpiece surface to resist moisture swelling during extended playing sessions. Reed plate edges and channel openings are rounded off to eliminate sharp contact points that cause lip fatigue. Cover plates now feature side vents and an opened back design that increases both projection volume and structural rigidity compared to the enclosed original covers. The included snapcase provides practical protection without the bulk of traditional wooden cases, and the Torx screw assembly allows fast plate access for cleaning or reed adjustment without stripping threads.
