Product Information
Since 1992, this chromatic harmonica has delivered tool-free disassembly thanks to a comb and reed plate assembly that slots directly into the housing without screws or fasteners. The Hohner CX12 in the key of Bb won the German Industry Design Award shortly after its release, marking a rare recognition for harmonica design. Its plastic cover and mouthpiece unit create an exceptionally airtight seal that translates to fast response and a powerful, distinctive tone across rock, pop and jazz styles.
The 1.05mm brass reed plates offer bright, responsive articulation, while the plastic comb maintains tuning stability and performance consistency across temperature and humidity shifts. The integrated cover and mouthpiece design eliminates many of the air leaks common in traditional chromatic harmonicas, allowing players to execute fast chromatic passages with minimal breath pressure. This construction approach not only simplifies maintenance but also reduces the mechanical noise that can plague older chromatic models during slide actuation.
