Product Information
Designed as an entry point into blues harp playing, this diatonic harmonica from Hohner comes tuned to the key of A and features a durable ABS plastic comb that holds up across all climate conditions. The Blues Band harmonica uses recessed brass reed plates set into the comb for greater comfort during extended playing sessions. Twenty brass reeds respond across the full range of the instrument, housed in 0.9 mm thick brass plates with stainless steel cover plates protecting the works.
The recessed reed plate design positions the metal flush with the comb surface, reducing sharp edges and making it easier on the lips when moving between holes. ABS construction throughout the mouthpiece and comb body keeps the weight down whilst ensuring the instrument won't warp or swell in humid conditions – a common problem with wooden combs in Australia's variable climate. The black ABS comb paired with stainless steel covers gives the harmonica a clean, functional appearance that prioritises playability over decoration.
Blues harmonica typically involves bending notes and drawing breath techniques that can be tough on cheaper instruments. The brass reed construction here offers enough resilience for beginners learning these techniques without the price tag of professional models. This A–tuned version suits players wanting to jam along with guitar–based blues in E or A, two of the most common keys in the genre.
