Product Information

Gibson's Songwriter Recording Artist EC is a cutaway acoustic–electric built for recording and touring musicians who demand professional tone and fretboard access. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, it pairs a thermally aged Sitka spruce top with rosewood back and sides, underpinned by Gibson's signature 1930s Advanced X-braced design. The 25.5" long scale and modern square-shoulder dreadnought body deliver the resonance and projection expected of a guitar at this level.

Construction centres on a mahogany neck with round profile, bound ebony fretboard, and a compound dovetail joint secured with hot hide glue for maximum tonal transfer. The bridge is ebony with bone saddle and TUSQ® pins; a bone nut sits at the headstock, which features a rosewood veneer and mother-of-pearl Gibson Crown inlay. Electronics are handled by an L.R. Baggs™ HiFi system with dual bridge plate sensors and an onboard preamp, delivering natural acoustics with minimal feedback and easy soundhole–mounted controls for stage and studio use.

The cutaway design affords extended upper-fret access for lead work and complex voicings, making it particularly suited to fingerstylists and those requiring broader harmonic range from a single instrument. Gold Grover® open-back tuners ensure stable pitch, whilst the included Gibson hardshell case provides road–ready protection. This is a refined tool for players who track and perform live.
