Product Information
Gibson's L-00 has remained a cornerstone of small-body acoustic design since its 1934 introduction, prized for its compact footprint and balanced tonality. The L-00 Century 12-Fret left-handed model revisits a configuration that Gibson last standardised in pre-war production–shifting the neck-to-body joint from the conventional 14-fret to a 12-fret connection. This change redistributes the bridge plate toward the top's centre, tightening the overall resonance and producing a warmer, more articulate response that rewards fingerstyle technique and lighter attack dynamics.
Construction centres on a mahogany back and sides paired with a Sitka spruce top, reinforced by single-ply cream binding along both upper and lower bouts. The mahogany neck employs Gibson's SlimTaper® 12-fret profile with a traditional compound dovetail joint secured in hot hide glue, a build method consistent across Gibson's contemporary flat-top range. The rosewood fingerboard spans 19 frets with mother-of-pearl dot inlays, whilst the 628.7 mm scale length supports a closed-slot rosewood bridge and sloped-rectangle design. Hardware includes open-back Golden Age tuners with cream buttons, bone nut and saddle, and TUSQ® bridge pins; finishing is hand-applied satin nitrocellulose lacquer. A premium tweed hardshell case from the Century Collection ships with every instrument.
The left-handed specification mirrors all aspects of the right-handed edition, with identical materials, hardware, and tonal characteristics. Period-appropriate detailing–including the early-1900s-style Gibson script logo on the headstock and L-00-style pickguard–anchors the guitar visually to its heritage whilst supporting its use across contemporary fingerstyle, folk, and studio contexts where compact dimensions and responsive treble balance deliver genuine practical advantage.
