Product Information
Gibson Custom Shop's Handpicked '59 Les Paul Standard Ultra Light Back recreates the famed 1959 specification with a mahogany body, carved maple top, and dual humbucking pickups. The Handpicked designation confirms each carved maple top was individually selected at the Nashville Custom Shop before construction began. Washed Cherry Burst nitrocellulose lacquer finishes the maple top with a faded, translucent cherry sunburst that reveals the grain beneath.
Ultra Light Back construction delivers a lighter finished weight than standard Custom Shop production runs. Weight, finish characteristics, and pickup specifications vary across individual instruments due to the hand-selected nature of each top and the traditional nitrocellulose finishing process. The mahogany body provides resonant low-mid response, while the carved maple top adds clarity and articulation to the humbucker output. Contact the stocking store for exact weight and specifications on the individual guitar available.
