The Evans RealFeel 10" Attacktile Practice Pad occupies a distinct position in the practice pad market, engineered by Evans to replicate acoustic drum response with greater fidelity than conventional rubber surfaces. The Attacktile film laminate–a UV-coated composite–delivers increased attack, volume, and sonic feedback, making it a legitimate substitute for traditional drum practice rather than a muted compromise. Evans manufactures the entire range in the USA under strict quality control, backing years of R&D into surface technology that responds to stick rebound and articulation.
Construction centres on a single-sided design with an 8mm threaded insert moulded into gum rubber, allowing mounting to standard cymbal stands or the dedicated Evans ARFSTD practice pad stand. The 10" diameter strikes a practical balance between portability and surface area. This specification also enables brush technique practice–a capability absent from many practice pads–since the Attacktile surface provides enough texture and response to articulate brush strokes distinctly. The threaded insert is the mechanical anchor point for any setup, ensuring secure, stable positioning during intensive practice sessions.
The Scholastic Pack configuration bundles the pad with an Evans Apprentice Practice Pad stand and ProMark Rebound 5A Hickory Wood Tip drumsticks, creating a complete entry point for drummers prioritising consistency between practice and kit. Those purchasing the pad separately retain full compatibility with existing hardware, avoiding unnecessary duplication of stands or forcing equipment decisions based on bundled content.
