The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Special 4–string stands as a modernised take on a 1976 classic that fundamentally shaped the electric bass landscape. Music Man's engineering philosophy centres on refined playability and weight reduction without compromising the legendary StingRay sonic character. This dual–humbucker variant pairs neodymium magnets with an 18–volt, 3–band active preamp to deliver extended headroom and tonal flexibility from vintage warmth through contemporary punch.
Construction revolves around select roasted maple throughout the neck and body, with the Ebony fingerboard option providing 22 stainless steel frets across a 34–inch scale. The neck measures 1–11/16–inches at the nut, expanding to 2–1/2–inches at the last fret, whilst a sculpted 5–bolt joint allows uninhibited access to higher positions. Lightweight tuning machines and optimised body contours reduce overall weight, enhancing neck–to–body balance. The vintage Music Man® bridge features chrome–plated steel with nickel–plated saddles, whilst a 5–way lever selector navigates the dual pickup configuration.
The Anomalous Green finish paired with the Ebony fretboard delivers striking visual contrast whilst maintaining the sonic signature that session and touring bassists have relied upon for decades.
