Roasted figured maple meets custom DiMarzio humbuckers in this single-cutaway electric guitar from Ernie Ball Music Man, finished in Charcoal Cloud with a satin flame maple top over basswood. The Axis Super Sport retains the asymmetric neck carve that defines the series – thicker on the bass side, thinner towards the treble – while adding a roasted maple neck and 22 stainless steel frets. A proprietary vintage tremolo with solid steel saddles and Schaller M6-IND locking tuners handle tuning stability, while the 5-bolt sculpted neck joint provides access right up to the 22nd fret.

The 25.5-inch scale length and 10-inch radius fretboard sits on a roasted figured maple neck treated with gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax. Neck width measures 41.3mm at the nut, widening to 55.6mm at the last fret. Custom DiMarzio humbucking pickups route through 500kohm volume and tone controls with a .022µF capacitor, switched via a 5-way lever selector. The basswood body with bookmatched flame maple top measures 32.1cm wide and 4.5cm thick, finished in matte Charcoal Cloud. Graphite acrylic resin coats the body cavity for electronic shielding, with an aluminium-lined control cover completing the noise rejection.

Hard-edge rock tones emerge from the basswood and DiMarzio combination, but the configuration also responds to lighter playing dynamics at reduced volume levels. The matching headstock measures just 14.9cm long, contributing to the overall balance of the single-cutaway design. Cream binding frames the body, with chrome hardware throughout including the Music Man vintage tremolo. Factory strings are RPS 9 Slinkys gauged 9–42.
