Product Information
The PAF Joe™ is DiMarzio's signature neck humbucker developed in collaboration with Joe Satriani to merge the clarity of the PAF Pro® with the warmth of late 1950s Gibson® humbuckers. Satriani describes the resulting tone as "tubular"–a descriptor that captures the pickup's balance between articulate low frequencies and warm midrange and treble response. Available in F-spaced configuration with a red cover, this humbucker employs Virtual Vintage® technology to deliver equal performance on both chord voicings and single-note lead lines.
Virtual Vintage® technology blends clear low-frequency response with warm-sounding mids and highs, ensuring sustained notes retain definition without becoming harsh or muddy. The F-spaced pole configuration accommodates guitars with wider string spacing at the bridge, maintaining proper magnetic alignment across all six strings. Designed specifically for the neck position, the PAF Joe™ balances output between vintage warmth and contemporary clarity. Satriani first deployed this pickup throughout the 2003 G3 tour, where it handled everything from clean jazz voicings to high-gain lead work without compromising tonal character across different amplifier settings.
