Product Information

The D'Addario XLB070 is a single nickel–wound bass string engineered for long scale instruments and built at D'Addario's New York production facility. This .070 gauge replacement string carries the design philosophy behind the XL Nickel Wound range: round–wound construction with nickel–plated steel delivers a distinctive bright tone with clear fundamentals and increased output. Whether sourcing a replacement for a touring rig or assembling a custom set, this single string allows players to dial in exact gauges without committing to a full set.

The XLB070 employs round–wound, nickel–plated steel construction throughout its wrap and core, yielding enhanced break strength and intonation stability through proprietary core wire drawn in–house. The uncoated design maximises tonal brightness and sustain; corrosion resistance remains strong across the nickel plating. At .070 inches, this gauge sits toward the heavier end of the four–string spectrum, suiting players who favour a tighter feel and greater low–end definition without sacrificing articulation on complex passages.
