Cole Clark's Studio series represents a thoughtful middle ground between entry–level and pro–grade acoustics, built for recording and bedroom work where amplification matters. The SAN1EC–LH–SR pairs an all–solid construction Grand Auditorium body with a cutaway design and onboard Cole Clark PG3 piezo pickup system, making it equally at home direct into a mixing console or through a stage PA. Left–handed configuration expands access beyond the standard market.
Construction centres on a solid spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides, braced to handle 12–53 phosphor bronze strings across a 25.5–inch scale. The 44mm nut width sits standard for classical–influenced comfort. Grover machine heads and Graph Tech Tusq nut and saddle form the hardware spine, whilst the PG3's strip piezo technology captures vibration directly from the bridge for transparent amplified tone without body resonance bleed. Satin polyurethane finish resists fingerprints better than gloss alternatives. The included grey gig bag and supplied pickguard complete the package for transport and protection.
The cutaway design, whilst limiting lower bout resonance slightly, provides genuine fret access into the high register—useful for fingerstyle composers and session players tracking overdubs. Cole Clark specifies this model unsuitable for percussive slap techniques, a realistic constraint given the piezo's sensitivity to impact noise. Audible character leans toward definition over projection, suiting controlled studio environments where the electrical signal drives the sound.
