Beyerdynamic's WS 97 wind screen is a specialist accessory engineered to reduce wind and handling noise on a range of studio and location microphones. The anthracite foam sleeve fits the DT 297 PV, DT 297 PV MK II, DT 797 PV, and the TG I series condenser capsules–each a trusted workhorse in broadcast, field recording, and live sound applications. Wind screens absorb turbulent air movement before it reaches the diaphragm, a critical consideration for outdoor recording or venues prone to acoustic interference.

The design philosophy centres on minimal acoustic colouration whilst maximising rejection of environmental noise. Manufactured from open–cell foam, the WS 97 maintains the frequency response integrity of its host microphone while damping air currents that would otherwise translate into low–frequency rumble and plosive distortion. Installation is straightforward–the sleeve slides over the microphone body without requiring tools or modifications. The compact form factor keeps weight and wind resistance negligible, making it practical for both stationary setups and handheld applications where manoeuvrability matters.
