Product Information
The open-back design and STELLAR.45 driver in the Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO X Limited Black Edition reveal fine details and inconsistencies that closed headphones tend to mask, making this German-made studio headphone a precise tool for critical listening and analytical work. With a frequency response stretching from 5 Hz to 40,000 Hz and total harmonic distortion below 0.15% at 500 Hz, the sound signature brings acoustic imperfections and subtle production flaws to the surface before they make it into the final mix. The 48-ohm nominal impedance allows the headphones to deliver 111 dB SPL at 1 V across a wide range of playback devices, from audio interfaces to portable recorders.
The STELLAR.45 dynamic driver handles 100 mW of short-term power and operates at a sensitivity of 97 dB at 1 mW, ensuring fine nuances remain audible even at moderate listening levels. A detachable 3-metre cable connects via a locking 3-pin mini-XLR, keeping the connection secure during extended sessions, while a gold-plated 3.5 mm jack ships with a screw-on 6.35 mm adapter for studio and portable use. Soft velour ear pads and a padded headband distribute the 298-gram weight (without cable) evenly, with 5.5 N of nominal headband pressure maintaining comfort through long editing and mixing sessions.
Replaceable components extend the working life of these German-manufactured headphones, and the all-black finish distinguishes this limited edition from the standard silver-and-black DT990 PRO X. The flexible headband construction adjusts to different head sizes without creating pressure points, while the open-back design provides the spatial imaging and natural sound staging needed for evaluating stereo field placement and reverb tails. A drawstring bag is included for transport and storage between sessions.
