Banjos are known for their place in country, folk, American old-time music and bluegrass, however its origin is Africa and was transported to the USA in the 17th Century with the African slaves. The Banjo has between 4-6 strings and a round ‘head’ that is used to create resonation and ultimately the unique sound of a banjo.

A Banjo head is most commonly made from plastic these days, but started out being made from animal skin.
