Soundcraft

Soundcraft was founded in 1973 in the UK, by Phil Dudderidge and Graham Blyth. Dudderidge was a sound guy, and famously toured with Led Zeppelin in 1970 as their first dedicated live sound engineer. Blyth was electrical engineer, who by 1971 had already designed and built mixers for British rock bands such as T. Rex, Ten Years After and King Crimson.

The pair made an immediate impact with their first product, the Series 1, the world's first mixing console built into a fight-case, which serviced a growing demand from touring bands for portable sound equipment. The Series 1S was released as a direct upgrade in 1975, with the Series 2 following it that same year. It was this live and recording console, bristling with 24 semi-modular channels and a host of clever routing and EQ options, that established Soundcraft's reputation for building desks with 'the British sound' (meaning high-quality).

These days, Soundcraft offers a range of analogue and digital mixing consoles for live and studio applications. Being part of the Harman International Industries group of companies means that they benefit not only from their own engineering lineage, but also from decades of parallel product development. The majority of their mixers for example, come loaded with studio-quality Lexicon effects at no extra cost.
