Pioneer DJ was a division of Pioneer Corporation until it was bought and established as its own company in 2015. The history of it's products, however, dates back to 1992, when the then-division released the CDJ-300, and changed DJing forever. For while "CDJ" is a common noun these days, the concept of spinning and mixing CDs in a club in the early '90s was completely unheard of.
By the release of the CDJ-1000 in 2001, CDJs were rocking must-have features like master tempo, live cue/loop, built-in FX, and touch-sensitive platters. With so much power under the hood, and an ease-of-use that was off the charts, the CDJ-1000 soon became a club standard, usually nestled next a pair of Technics SL1200s. Pioneer DJ's mixer line developed concurrently, and 2011 saw the release of the flagship DJM-900NXS, which would soon find its own home in nightclubs around the world.
These days, the company produces all-in-one controllers, effects units, and analogue turntables, blurring the lines between cutting-edge electronic instruments and traditional pro DJ equipment. Many of its products integrate with Serato vinyl emulation software, as well its own rekordbox offering. Spinning tracks has never been more accessible, and true to it's name, Pioneer DJ has been at the forefront of that innovation.
