Cole Clark started life in 2001 when founders Bradley Clark and Adam Cole set out to make a steel-string acoustic guitar with a 'Spanish Heel' neck joint. This type of neck construction is significantly more difficult to produce than the more common 'bolt' or 'dove tail' joins, but the one-piece design leads to a richer sound.
This devotion to quality is also evident in Cole Clark's patented pickup system, which combines three different elements calibrated to hear only the frequencies they excel at. Piezos under the saddle handle low frequencies, a face sensor picks up the mids and highs, while a shelved condenser microphone picks out the extreme high end. The result is a pickup that sounds as natural as the sustainable, native-Australian wood the company's guitars are built from.
With such quality materials and construction, the FL Dreadnought, LL Mini, and AN Grand Auditorium have become iconic Australian instruments played by the likes of local singer-songwriters Pete Murray, Tex Perkins, Tim Rogers, Xavier Rudd, and Angus & Julia Stone. International Cole Clark players include Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, and Omar Rodríguez-López.
